What happened?
NK Slaven Belupo announced the arrival of Karlo Sentić, a 25‑year‑old goalkeeper from Dubrovnik, on a two‑year contract. Sentić is the third new signing after spring reinforcement Lovro Banovac and will be available to coach Greguri from day one of training, which started this afternoon.
How did Sentić end up at Belupo?
The former Hajduk keeper spent two seasons at Hungarian side Diósgyőri, playing 49 matches before the club dropped to the second tier and his contract expired. After a brief, unused stint at Kazakhstani Ordabasy, Sentić signed with Belupo. His résumé includes senior appearances for Hajduk, a loan to Varaždin (2021/22) and a debut in the HNL with 18 games before moving abroad.
Why does he matter for Slaven Belupo?
Despite his age, Sentić brings considerable experience: six caps for Croatia’s U‑19 and U‑21 squads and a Croatian Cup win with Hajduk in 2023. His presence adds depth to a defence that currently sits 7th in the HNL with 41 points and has 46 goals scored and 61 conceded. The latest result – NK Osijek 2‑0 NK Slaven Belupo (2026‑05‑22) – highlights defensive struggles, and the recent form (LLWLD) underscores the need for stability between the posts.
What lies ahead?
Sentić will have the chance to prove himself in the first team from the first training session. If he can translate his foreign experience, he could help the club reverse a four‑game losing streak and claw back points. Coach Greguri will likely rotate him with the current goalkeeper until a clear first‑choice emerges. Given the current league position, every point is vital in the fight to stay clear of the relegation battle.
